New Game Plus and 66 Days mode explained

In the first playthrough the 66 days are only story. The mode of that name unlocks in New Game Plus, uses its own save and cannot be saved-scummed. Some details still conflict between reports.

Quick answers

How do you unlock 66 Days mode?

It is available from New Game Plus, which opens after you finish the game once. In the first run the 66 days are only a story device.[4][6]

Do I need 66 Days mode for the achievements or the Platinum?

No. All achievements can be earned on the first three difficulties, even Wayfarer, so one playthrough can give Platinum.[4][6]

What happens when the 66 days run out?

You get a short ending animation, that run's data becomes history, and the game asks whether you want to start over.[4]
